As part of the SHRP2 Tuesdays Webinar Series, TRB conducted a webinar on June 4, 2013 from 2:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. ET that explored the SHRP 2 Report S2-C19-RR-1:
Expedited Planning and Environmental Review of Highway Projects (C19). The report identifies strategies that have been successfully used to expedite the planning and environmental review of transportation and some non-transportation projects within the context of existing laws and regulations.

When transportation improvements fail to materialize, project costs can escalate and the public’s perception of an agency's performance may deteriorate. Expediting project delivery during long-range planning, corridor planning, programming, and environmental review can save years of expensive delay. Many of the strategies for expediting projects also apply to design and construction activities, which may reduce delivery times by weeks or months.
SHRP 2 Report S2-C19-RR-1 may assist agencies as they assess whether or not they have taken advantage of the full array of strategies for expediting the planning and project development process.
