TRB awards recognize individuals for outstanding achievements and service. TRB also collaborates with other organizations to select recipients of two joint awards. In addition, TRB’s Executive Committee has authorized the annual presentation of a limited number of awards recognizing outstanding papers published by TRB and sponsored by selected groups under its Technical Activities Council (TAC).

TRB OUTSTANDING PAPER AWARDS

TRB’s Executive Committee has authorized the annual consideration of a limited number of awards recognizing outstanding papers published by TRB. Papers are evaluated and selected through the annual peer-review process administered by TRB’s committees, sections, and groups under its Technical Activities Council (TAC). Awards are presented when warranted and may not be given every year. These awards and their respective subject areas are listed below.

In addition, the Fred Burggraf Award may be presented to eligible authors when merited. The award recognizes excellence in transportation research by individuals 35 years of age or younger whose papers have been selected for publication by TRB.
