Pavements for Rapid Renewal: Get In, Get Out, Stay Out
TRB’s second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) has released a Project Brief that describes SHRP 2 tools that make it easier for road owners to gain the benefits of rapid renewal through the use advanced pavement technologies.
The tools highlighted in the brief include model design specifications for modular pavement technology, guidelines for constructing composite pavements, a new design that uses part of the existing pavement “structure” in place, preservation guidelines for high-traffic-volume roadways, and a web-based decision support tool for selecting geotechnical solutions to stabilize the base of roadways.
