TRB Webinar: Assessing Community Annoyance with Helicopter Noise
TRB conducted a webinar on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 2:00PM to 3:30PM ET that features research from the
Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP)’s
Synthesis 76: Helicopter Noise Information for Airports and Communities and
Research Report 181: Assessing Community Annoyance of Helicopter Noise.
Helicopters produce a unique sound that is easily recognizable. While modern light- and medium-weight civilian helicopters are much quieter than older helicopters or heavy military helicopters, they are still the focus of community concern. This webinar provided a discussion of current practices of managing noise and a summary of the results of recent research on human annoyance response to helicopter noise.
This webinar is sponsored by TRB's Airport Cooperative Research Program.
