NASEM Webinar: Climate Risk Resilience in U.S. Cities and Towns--Current Processes and Emerging Trends
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will conduct a webinar on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 pm ET that reviews and assesses city-level activities to address climate risk resilience in U.S. cities and towns. There is no fee to register for this webinar. Participants must register in advance of the session.
Cities are developing climate adaptation plans, policies, and other tactics to improve their resiliency to climate risks. This webinar will examine the role of science-policy linkages, co-production strategies, city-level knowledge networks, and federal-state-municipal connections when mitigating hazards. A case study of post-Hurricane Sandy New York and the extended urban Northeast U.S. will be used to illustrate these points.
William D. Solecki, Professor and Director of the CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities, is the presenter of this webinar. The moderator will be Dr. Carol Harden, University of Tennessee - Knoxville and Chair of the NASEM Geographical Sciences Committee.
