Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of communication to trucking industry concerns and the need for continued roundabout growth;
- Explain Oregon DOT’s recent legislative changes dealing with roundabouts and its process to include the trucking industry when planning, designing, and constructing roundabouts;
- Summarize truck capabilities in modern roundabouts and how standard highway trucks can be accommodated at multi-lane roundabouts;
- Describe the value of developing a statewide truck route with designated segments to accommodate OSOW freight loads and how to overcome barriers in becoming a freight- friendly state;
- Recognize how Wisconsin is accommodating OSOW vehicles at roundabouts and other intersections; and
- Identify the major concerns of states and truckers regarding roundabouts, the tools to facilitate better intersection design for OSOW vehicles, and examples of design and operational concepts.
