2020 Forum on Preparing for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility
The National Academies/TRB Forum on Preparing for Automated Vehicles and Shared Mobility will focus its 2020 efforts on identifying and preparing for future scenarios. These efforts are expected to include the following:
- Preparing summaries of top ten issues of concern to forum participants
- Identifying sample scenario(s) and their implications
- Developing visions and strategies
- Preparing implementation plans
The Forum's priorities for 2020 have been determined by the Forum Co-Chairs based on surveys and input from Forum participants. The mission of the TRB Forum is to bring together public, private, and research organizations to share perspectives on critical issues surrounding the deployment of automated vehicles and shared mobility. Forum participants discuss, identify, and help facilitate evidence-based research needed to deploy these technologies in a manner and timeframe that informs policy to meet long-term goals. The long-term goals include increasing safety, reducing congestion, enhancing accessibility, increasing environmental and energy sustainability, and encouraging economic development and equity.
