Providing Traffic Control Device Information in a Connected and Automated Vehicle Environment

The Virginia Department of Transportation has released a report that investigates the development of a digital traffic control device (TCD) data service that focuses on signs and pavement markings. As connected vehicles develop and vehicle automation becomes a reality, the potential exists to replace or augment TCDs with a digital connection.
