Review of Initial Service Life Determination in Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) Procedures and in Practice
The National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University has released a report that identifies current methods that state departments of transportation (DOTs) use to determine initial service life for use in life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for both asphalt and concrete pavements. This report also determines actual service life of these pavements. State DOTs use LCCA to choose the most cost-effective project alternatives when planning new construction or reconstruction of their roadways.
