TRB Volunteer Profile: Edward Strocko
Edward Strocko, director of the Office of Spatial Analysis and Visualization at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), is a featured volunteer in the November-December 2016 edition of the
TR News. He has overseen the migration and modernization of the BTS geographic information system web infrastructure, which allowed for an open data catalog of geospatial information. Additionally, Mr. Strocko has developed the National Transit Map, which combines data from transit agencies into a national, openly available, and machine-readable map of transit service in the United States.
With TRB, Mr. Strocko has served on National Cooperative Freight Research Program panels, National Cooperative Highway Research Program panels, and SHRP2 program panels, in addition to serving on several Standing Committees. Currently, he is a member of the Task Force on Development of Freight Fluidity Performance Measures.
