SHRP 2 Reliability Brief: December 2008

Reliability research in SHRP 2 addresses the root causes of unpredictable travel times by focusing on highway system operations. Travel time reliability, which is valued for many reasons, is compromised by unexpected congestion. Reducing this nonrecurring congestion can help transportation agencies improve travel time reliability even as traveldemand grows. The current research plan ensures a forward-looking focus on these goals and strengthens links between related projects.
