Review of DOD's Unmanned Aircraft Systems
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released a report that examines the steps the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has taken to facilitate the integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into combat operations. The report also explores the DOD’s approach to allocating and tasking its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) assets considers all available ISR capabilities, including those provided by UAS. In addition, the report reviews DOD’s evaluation of the performance of its ISR assets, including UAS, in meeting warfighters’ needs.
