TRB conducted a webinar on August 13, 2015, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm ET that presented the results of
NCHRP Synthesis 479: Forecasting Transportation Revenue Sources: Survey of State Practices. This synthesis features a survey of all state departments of transportation and documents current methods of revenue forecasting.
States are facing a transportation funding crisis with diminished purchasing power. The revenue received from motor fuel taxes cannot sustain future transportation investments. However, a few states have developed innovative approaches to forecasting future revenue. This webinar will explore the current state of the practice regarding revenue forecasting. Panelists will highlight current and proposed forecasting methodologies, as well as some of the shortcomings of methods as reported by state departments of transportation (DOTs).
A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) were provided to attendees who registered and attended the webinar as an individual. This webinar has met approval by the American Institute of Certified Planners for 1.5 Certification Maintenance Credits.
