TRB Straight to Recording for All: Visualization for Improving Transportation Planning and Asset Management

TRB released a series of recordings in November 2019 that explore how visualization may enhance transportation outcomes through improved transportation planning and asset management. Visualization is a powerful but often under-utilized approach in the transportation industry to build consensus and monitor progress of key transportation initiatives. Appropriate use of visualization techniques may bring clarity to complex data sets and improve communication between technical experts and policy makers. The presenters discuss how to use the Highway Performance Monitoring System to evaluate data quality; building information modeling for bridges and structures; and how visualization improves transportation planning and asset management.
