TRB Webinar: Plan for Disaster: Is Your Airport Prepared For An Airfield Accident?
Airport personnel were invited to a TRB webinar on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET. The webinar featured research from the
Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP)
Web-Only Document 31: Improving Stakeholder Engagement in Aircraft Accident Response Planning and
Legal Research Digest 33: Overview of Airport Duties and Standards of Care in Airfield Accident Cases.
This webinar provided guidance for airport personnel who seek to engage with accident response stakeholders beyond the boundaries of the airport. The U.S. Federal Administration (FAA) regulations require airports to be prepared to respond to emergency situations. These situations include aircraft accidents, which can threaten the safety and welfare of the airport, its occupants, and the surrounding community. Presenters discussed the airport’s duties and standards of care in an airfield accident context, including the extent to which federal preemption may apply.
The
slides are available.
