TRB conducted a webinar on October 20, 2014, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm ET that focused on precast concrete pavement (PCP) panel fabrication and installation. Webinar presenters covered SHRP 2 Report S2-R05-RR-1: Precast Concrete Pavement Technology, which provides comprehensive guidance on project selection, PCP system acceptance, and panel design, fabrication and installation. This webinar was the second of a two-part series highlighting precast concrete pavement. The first webinar in the series, Planning and Design Considerations for Precast Concrete Pavement Implementation, was held on October 8, 2014.
During the last decade numerous projects have been constructed and many advances have been made, and continue to be made, in PCP panel design, fabrication, and installation. The PCP technology is being used for a variety of applications, including intermittent repairs (e.g., full-depth panel replacement), continuous applications (e.g., longer length/width pavement sections), bridge approaches, and replacement of intersections. Without significant maintenance, service-life expectations are at least 20 years for PCP repairs and 40 years for continuous applications.
A certificate for 2.0 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) was provided to attendees who registered and attended the webinar as an individual.
