TRB conducted a webinar on May 29, 2013 from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. ET that presented the results of a recently completed pooled fund research project on subsurface drainage for slope stabilization. Contact Reggie Gillum at
RGillum@nas.edu for information on accessing a link to the recorded webinar.
This first webinar of a two-part series will introduce the research project, explain the limitations of the current standard-of-practice, discuss how the research methodology can improve design results, and introduce basic concepts of groundwater hydrology. In addition, it will include watershed delineation and site mapping, geophysical and subsurface data sources and methods, quantifying groundwater recharge, and hydraulic conductivity and specific yield of aquifers.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Engineering Geology (AFP10). On June 25, 2013, TRB conducted a webinar on
Subsurface Drainage for Slope Stabilization, Part 2 of 2.
