Traffic operations and management practitioners were invited to a TRB webinar on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 2:00-3:30 PM. ICE is emerging as a preferred method for identifying the most appropriate intersection form for a given location. This webinar presented an overview of how the new and updated methods in the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) and its companion,
Planning & Preliminary Engineering Applications Guide (PPEAG), can be an integral part of the ICE process.
The
updated HCM is now available from TRB. The HCM serves as a fundamental reference on concepts, performance measures, and analysis techniques for evaluating the multimodal operation of streets, highways, freeways, and off-street pathways. The most recent changes are designed to keep the manual in step with its users’ needs and present times.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Highway Capacity and Quality of Service. It is the fifth in a series of webinars about the HCM. The previous webinar were held on on June 10, 2019; July 29, 2019; August 22, 2019; and October 23, 2019. The final webinar in the HCM series will be held in December.
The slides are available. Contact TRB webinar for a copy of the recorded webinar.
