An Application of Discrete Event Simulation in a Stage Queuing Framework for Airside Operations
The Institute for Transportation at Iowa State University has released a report that describes a discrete-event simulation model and supporting analytical tools designed to help airport planners, operations directors, and air traffic control specialists collaborate in maximizing airside performance. This report identifies how three interacting spheres – airport operations control, maintenance services, and air traffic control – can enhance cooperation and deploy smoother overall airport operations.
