Sustainable initiatives, carried out through various recycling strategies as well as everyday maintenance activities, are becoming common in airport improvement projects. This webinar will benefit airport decision makers and their staff who need to identify and evaluate alternative sustainable design concepts and technologies.
This webinar will highlight findings from the following ACRP reports that address these issues:
Ted Woolsey, Landrum & Brown, will present
ACRP Report 80: Guidebook for Incorporating Sustainability into Traditional Airport Projects. Ted will discuss opportunities for applying principles of sustainability in all areas of airport operations, including the potential cost savings. He will discuss the results of the report, including the companion Excel-based, interactive decision-making tool—Airport Sustainability Assessment Tool—t hat was developed to allow users to assess and judge applicable practices for their individual airport situations.
Christy Shelton, Cascadia Consulting Group, will present information about
ACRP Research Project 02-15: Recycling Strategies for the Airport Industry. Christy will discuss and present the following recycling strategies: procedures for recycling airport, airline, and flight kitchen waste; action plans to improve recycling and reduce waste disposal costs for airports of varying sizes and characteristics; and possible recycling program gaps and potential ways to bridge those gaps.
Moderated by: Amy Malick, Chicago Department of Aviation
The first 60 minutes of the webinar is for presentations and the final 30 minutes is reserved for audience questions.
