TRB Webinar: Reducing Pavement Damage Due to Spring Thaw
TRB conducted a webinar on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that discussed techniques for reducing pavement damage due to spring thaw, especially on low volume roads. These techniques include improving geometric design, properly posting spring load restrictions, and modifying drainage systems. Presenters highlighted case studies of mitigation techniques from Minnesota, New York, and Alaska. They described spring thaw and provided practical mitigation examples that can be implemented into new and existing pavements.
This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Seasonal Climatic Effects on Transportation Infrastructure.
