Exploring Strategies to Improve Mobility and Safety on Roadway Segments in Urban Areas
The Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State University has released a report that investigates driver compliance rates with stop signs at all-way stop controls (AWSC) that are in close proximity to signalized intersections. Several strategies have been developed to alleviate the congestion and throughput problem experienced at AWSC in urban areas, including Intelligent Transportation Systems, signal re-timing, and signal coordination.
