About TRID
In 2011, the Transportation Research Board and ITRD released TRID, the TRIS and ITRD Database. TRID (Transport Research International Documentation) is the world's largest and most comprehensive bibliographic resource on transportation research information. It is produced and maintained by the Transportation Research Board of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine with sponsorship by state departments of transportation, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and various federal agencies, and other sponsors of TRB's core technical activities. ITRD is produced by ITRD member organizations under the under the sponsorship of Joint Transport Research Centre (collectively JTRC) of the International Transport Forum and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and ITRD.
TRID covers all modes and disciplines of transportation and contains more than 1.4 million records of published research. More than 495,000 records contain links to full-text documents.
Records in TRID are indexed with a standardized vocabulary from the Transportation Research Thesaurus (TRT), ITRD Thesaurus or a different thesaurus depending on the source organization.
Researchers can submit a published transportation report or document online for indexing in TRID or email it to tris-trb@nas.edu.

TRID Coverage
The TRID Database contains more than 1.4 million records of references to books, technical reports, conference proceedings, and journal articles in the field of transportation research. More than 600 serial titles are regularly scanned and indexed for TRID.
TRID's focus is transportation research. TRID does not contain information on vehicle standards and specifications, patent information, market research, or military transport.
In addition to the material that is indexed and abstracted at the TRB and from ITRD, TRID receives records from several sources:
J-STAGE
TRB and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to share records of transportation related research from JST’s J-STAGE Database with TRB’s TRID Database. The J-STAGE Database is Japan's largest electronic journal platform for academic societies. It disseminates research in the form of peer-reviewed articles from 1,500 journals published by academic societies in Japan. All J-STAGE records added to TRID will include English language abstracts. Approximately 80% of the records in J-STAGE have full text articles available free of charge. Many of the articles in J-STAGE are available in English. The inclusion of J-Stage records in TRID provides increased access to important Japanese transportation research and greatly increases the international coverage of TRID.
This MOU between TRB and JST is an outcome of the International Transportation Research Information Access Workshop held in 2012.
ATRI
The Australian Transport Index (ATRI) is a database of more than 180,000 records providing information on Australian and New Zealand land transport publications in the context of relevant international work. Selected by information professionals within ARRB's Library over more than four decades, and financed by the National Interest Services (NIS) program, this resource is regularly used in Australasian state and federal government departments, private sector consultancies, and academic institutions to support land transport research and decision making.
