Railways 2010
TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2159 includes 14 papers that explore high-speed rail projects, emissions and energy consumption of high-speed trains, passenger rail crew scheduling, railway infrastructure charging, appraisal of rail freight projects, risk analysis of transporting hazardous materials by rail, and optimizing train network routing.
This issue of the TRR also examines the effects of communications-based train control and electronically controlled pneumatic brakes on railroad capacity, force characteristics of longitudinally coupled slab track turnout on bridges, ultrasonic guided waves in rails, freezing-induced cracks in concrete sleepers of high-speed railways, and railroad ballast evaluation using ground-penetrating radar.
