TRB conducted a webinar on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM ET that discusses research from
Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP)
Report 188: Shared Mobility and the Transformation of Public Transit. The ability to conveniently request, track, and pay for trips via mobile devices is transforming transportation mobility options. The report examines the relationship between public transportation, including paratransit and demand-responsive services, and shared modes, including bikesharing, carsharing, microtransit, and ridesourcing services provided by companies such as Uber and Lyft. This webinar focused on several of the report’s key findings. The presenters also discussed the opportunities and challenges for public transportation as they relate to technology-enabled mobility services and potential actions that public agencies may take to promote cooperation between public and private mobility providers.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify the appropriateness of shared modes and public transit in different transportation and land-use contexts
- Understand usage patterns for shared modes in order to incorporate them into operational and long-term planning
- Identify potential actions that public entities may take to build on the innovations of tech-enabled shared modes
- Discuss the range and major types of agreements, partnerships, and pilots underway between public entities and private shared mobility providers

Individuals registered as Florida PEs are no longer required to email TRB with your license number to report your attendance. Instead, please use your certificate that TRB provides through RCEP.net as verification of your attendance to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
