NCHRP Synthesis 449: Strategies to Mitigate the Impacts of Chloride Roadway Deicers on the Natural Environment. This publication documents the range of methods, tools, and techniques used by transportation agencies to minimize the environmental impact of chloride-based roadway deicers.

Learning Objectives

- Describe proactive mitigation techniques to limit the amount of chloride-based deicers used and lost during winter maintenance highway operations; and
- Summarize structural and non-structural mitigation strategies for capturing or reducing the impacts of chloride-based deicers.

A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate.

RGillum@nas.edu, with their license number.
Please check with your licensing board to ensure that TRB webinar PDHs are approved by your board.
